Text Voucher To Drum Up Sales

SMS text messaging isn't sexy but former Miss World Rosanna Davison definitely is. So it was a smart move by Limerick's Abbeycrest Traders to hire Rosanna for a photoshoot to promote the firm's SMS voucher system in the best possible light, MD Roger Bourke's dubious haircut notwithstanding.

Bourke says 'SMS Texter Plus' allows personalised promotional text vouchers to be sent to customers, and he's pitching the service at the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors. How it works is that businesses text an eight character code to the target audience, complete with expiry date. "A number of firms have been piloting our system for several months with an excellent success rate to date," says Bourke. The system lists customers who did and did not redeem the vouchers, all the better for improved targeting the next time.
